PlayStation Home to Provide Radio and Movie Socialization

Sony has revealed that its new and redesigned PlayStation Home project is to allow social experiences to become even more in-depth. From December, users of the system will be able to enter the virtual universe and hang out with their friends whilst listening to the music provided by RadioIO, experience live UStream entertainment, or watch uncut and feature length movies and television shows together.

The digital home system will allow users to access premium entertainment through its new Crackle network, with a database of free content including radio stations and a wide choice of movies including Starship Troopers, Snatch and Resident Evil. Such a tool will allow players in North America to connect with each other whichever state they are in, allowing for a more personable social experience.

Whilst Xbox Live Netflix Movie Parties users may already be able to utilize such socialization options, the system is coming completely new to North American PS Home players who, up until now, have not had the detailed social experience that the Crackle network will provide. Up to 60 people can attend mass entertainment viewings, whilst private parties can host up to 11 guests. Live UStream events will be accessible at launch with RadioIO music stations will be available soon after. In addition, with Crackle’s television and movie entertainment available now in full length and uncut versions entirely for free, social networking and experience within the PlayStation Home project, just took on an entirely new twist.

UPDATE: Apparently Crackle’s website is currently down. Perhaps the news was more popular than anticipated.
