Sneak Peek: Your Future Windows 8 Slate PC

Samsung is showing off a new Windows 8-ready tablet / slate PC that will be presented at IFA 2011. Both This is my next and PC Mag have details and photos of the upcoming product to browse over, but, in short, it’s a modern spec’d PC in a tablet form factor. It’s actually kind of exciting if you think about how folks are using computers at work these days. Lots of companies are passing out laptops instead of setting employees up with fixed desktop computers. What’s more, these laptops typically connect to a large flat screen display, providing a dual-screen work environment. You can easily imagine how one can use one of these Slate PCs as their normal work computer and then have the ability to undock it for meetings or presentations. Obviously, this could work well in the home environment as well (and possibly negate the need for a couch surfing tablet).

Samsung Series 7 Slate Highlights: Intel Core i5-2467M processor, 4GB of RAM, 64 or 128GB SSD, 2MP / 3MP cameras, 11.6-inch (1366×768) gorilla glass / wacom touch display.
