Elgato Jumps on the HDHomeRun PRIME Bandwagon, Intros a Compatible iPad App

Hey, why should your Windows Media Center or MythTV computer have all the fun with SiliconDust’s new HDHomeRun PRIME network CableCARD TV tuner? Elgato is announcing the availability of their HDHomeRun App for iPad (requires iOS 4.2 or later) — available now in the iTunes App Store for $17.99. According to the company’s app page, Elgato’s latest solution streams cable TV “copy freely” channels to the iPad 2 only. In addition, it can record and transfer content to any Mac or Windows PC. So, to reiterate: you need to make sure you cable provider doesn’t have all the channels locked down, otherwise this app is useless. One quick way to check (thanks to Missing Remote for the reminder tip) is by just reviewing the status of your programming via Windows Media Center.
