New Casual Games Arrive on Roku 2

Thanks to our friends at NewTeeVee we’re learning that a few new casual games have been added to the Roku Channel Store. Most are only $0.99. However, after reading the description of what they are (list below), it made wonder: How fun is this platform for gaming? Really, you’re talking about using your Roku’s single XS controller to play a game on your TV — most likely alone. I mean… who wants to stick around and watch you play Sudoku on TV? I think Roku needs to provide multi-player/controller support so it can provide a Wii-like experience with some actual potential. Under the current offering, you’re probably more likely to play these titles on your smartphone or tablet.

Newly added games:

  • Dracula’s Coffin
  • Texas Hold ‘em
  • Sudoku
  • Rockswap Adventures
  • Patience
  • Kaboom
  • Mahjong Fruits
