Walmart Integrates VUDU into Its Online Presence

It’s about time wouldn’t you say? If you remember Walmart purchased VUDU little more than a year ago. Today Walmart is announcing VUDU integration into its online store. Folks can now rent or purchase movies through the Walmart site — under Movies & TV > Video on Demand by VUDU — and view selections through their browser or on one of VUDU’s many compatible devices. Of course, if one isn’t interested in streaming, Walmart is also providing handy links to physical disc options (DVD/Blu-ray). There’s one caveat worth mentioning, though. Due to “studio restrictions” High-Definition (HD) and Full-HD (HDX) movies will be streamed in Standard Definition (SD) when using your browser (applies to purchases and rentals). To get the full experience you must use a VUDU compatible device. FYI, VUDU recommends 1Mbps connections for SD (480p), 2.25Mbps for HD (720p), and 4.5Mbps for HDX (1080p).
