iOS 5 Brings Display Mirroring to Apple TV via the iPad 2

Ever wish you could wireless display what’s on your iPad to your HDTV? Well, now you can! Apple has just added a “mirroring” feature to AirPlay’s control panel in iOS 5, which, like the term describes, duplicates what’s displaying on your iPad through your apple TV (2nd gen.) to a connected HDTV. The mirroring function will also work with the first generation iPad, iPhone 3GS / 4, and iPod touch. After looking at the demo, it appears that iPad’s display remains on while in mirroring mode and you can’t jump over to another app to multitask. Perhaps that’s coming next? In any case, it’s neat to see that SlingPlayer Mobile can take advantage of this new feature.

  1. Ummm…where’s the audio? Does it not send the audio to the Apple TV as well as the video?

    Now this is come true!
Now  “allow AirPlay to now show anything on your iPad on an Apple TV” !BTW, the iOS 5 is really cool, the ability to play 1080p vids really makes me exciting! Then maybe I don’t need to do so much converting with iFunia. Maybe could make the Apple TV to be a HTV centre. That’s so great!
