PLEX Media Server for Linux Now Available for Ubuntu, Slackware, and ReadyNAS

Oh, my. PLEX has just become the Linux community’s’ new best friend. The devs at PLEX have just announced the availability of its PLEX Media Server for NETGEAR’s popular ReadyNAS network storage server that will allow it to stream media to PLEX clients around the home — be it a tablet like your iPad or you shiny new LG Smart TV. In addition, the devs have packaged the server application for Ubuntu and Slackware / unRAID. Both versions require Avahi to be installed so it can provide Bonjour discoverability. Best part… it’s all FREE. So, get downloading and give it a spin. Warning: this is Beta quality software at this point, being that it’s currently available through the PLEX Labs channel. [via]
