Intel’s WiDi 2.0 Update Brings DRM Compatibility for DVD and Blu-ray Discs

Big news today for those following wireless display technology. Intel has just announced that a new driver update will enable WiDi equipped laptops to playback DVD and Blu-ray discs, as well as other HDCP 2.0 protected content, to your HDTV in 1080p sans cables. Remember, previously one could only mirror unprotected media from their laptop to their TV. What’s more, the update also adds support for 6-channel 16-bit/48 kHz LPCM sound output. All in all, it’s a must-have update (can’t wait to see this type of technology integrated into our tablets and smartphones). [via]
