Iomega Launches the Web Browser-enabled ScreenPlay DX HD Media Player / Server and the Drive-less ScreenPlay TV Link DX HD Media Player

This is interesting. Iomega has just revamped their ScreenPlay Media Player lineup, but, oddly, the company is also planning on selling a similar Boxee powered device called the Iomega TV with Boxee in the coming months. Both models offer internal storage of up to 2TB, access to the Internet, and nearly identical specs [comparison chart – PDF].

Anyway, the Iomega ScreenPlay DX HD Media Player and its lightweight brother, Iomega ScreenPlay TV Link DX HD Media Player, provide access to services like Netflix and Pandora, are DLNA certified, support 1080p video playback with Dolby / DTS decoding, provide 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity via an adapter, and include a wireless QWERTY keyboard to help navigate apps and web pages.

Price-wise things don’t look so bad either. The ScreenPlay DX HD Media Player with 1TB of storage retails for $229.99 ($199.95 at B&H), 2TB is $299.99 (currently available in international markets only). The ScreenPlay TV Link DX HD Media Player is available worldwide for $149.99 ($124.95 at B&H).

As for the interface, who knows… Iomega is keeping it a mystery since they haven’t posted any screenshots or demo videos.
