Xtreamer Ultra’s 249€ Package Deal is ‘Ultra’ Special (Ends 4/30/2011)

The folks at Xtreamer are getting really good at marketing and building buzz around their products. They’re now announcing a new special that will provide customers with their Xtreamer Ultra along with some added goodies and upgrades. For 249€ customers will get the Intel Atom D525 / ION 2 powered Xtreamer Ultra with 4GB of DDR3 memory and a MCE remote (as advertised), but they’ll also throw in a mini wireless keyboard, 16GB USB drive, 802.11n Wi-Fi dongle, and a HDMI 1.4a compatible cable. That’s seriously a good deal for about $350! Plus, it looks like Xtreamer Ultra will come with a bootable Linux-based OS. My guess it’s loaded on the USB drive. It also makes you wonder if XBMC is on there since they have so many featured screenshots of the software on their site. Aside: Xtreamer Ultra now supports the Wiimote-like AIWI controller for gameplay.

Warning to newbies: Xtreamer Ultra does not include a hard drive or come bundled with a copy of Windows. In other words, you have to know what you’re doing and have an idea of how you’re going to install your OS of choice on this drive-less nettop. What good is the HDMI 1.4a cable since last time I checked the Intel Atom / ION 2 platform did not support HDMI 1.4a?
