Time Warner Cable Launching the Industry’s First ‘Live TV’ Enabled iPad App

On Tuesday, March 15th, Time Warner Cable customers will be able download the company’s — and the industry’s — first Live TV enabled iPad app. The app will require that customers be subscribed to both its TV and Internet service to access Live TV. Furthermore, the iPad app’s Live TV functionality will only work within the home. At launch users will have access to 30 basic cable channels for viewing, but more are planned in the coming months. No specific details on the remote aspect of the app itself, but it will most likely offer the same as the competition: DVR management, EPG, show metadata, etc. UPDATE: TWC’s iPad app page is up. It’s formally being called TWCable TV for iPad [iTunes]. We also now know TWC plans to add remote DVR management and remote Tuner functionality to the app in the near future.
