Warner Bros. Now Renting Movies for Viewing Online Through Its Facebook Page

This is wild. Got 30 Facebook Credits burning a hole in your pocket? Make your way over to facebook.com/darkknight and click “Watch” in the menu bar. The studio is using The Dark Knight‘s Facebook Page to stream the movie directly to users via their browser. Warner Bros. says that “Additional titles will be made available for rental and purchase on a regular basis over the coming months.” So this isn’t just a test case they’re trying out. Warner Bros. plans to turn every movie page into its own community and delivery mechanism. I can’t say it’s a bad idea — just like their recent iPhone / iPod touch / iPad compatible movie apps for The Dark Knight and Inception. Funny thing… the Warner Bros. mobile app costs users more money to watch the same movie. The Dark Knight on the iPhone is $9.99 (with extras) while it’s only $3 through Facebook.
