Acer Rolls Out the Revo 100 Slim, Set-top HTPC with Windows 7

I’m shaking my head a little over this one. My first reaction to this new product is… Oh, it’s the Windows Media Center Embedded device, dubbed Revo 2 with RevoPad, we all got a glimpse of at IDF 2010. Well, no. It’s actually a full-on Windows 7 HTPC powered by an AMD Athlon II Neo dual-core processor (the Revo 2 showcased at IDF offered a set-top friendly Intel CE4100 processor — the same processor currently used in the Boxee Box). Overall, the Acer Revo 100 (RL100) looks near identical to the Revo 2, but this model includes a Blu-ray drive, NVIDIA ION graphics (nForce 520 LE chipset), 4GB or RAM, Multi-card reader, and sports the same pop-out multi-touch, wireless keyboard controller. It’s available now in the UK for £599.99 (about $947). Funny thing. It’s also listed on Acer’s US site (announcement), but the product page doesn’t seem to render properly at the moment.
