LG Optimus 7 Play To / DLNA Streaming Demo

Thinking about picking up a Windows Phone 7 handset? You’ll happy to learn that some models will have Play To functionality built-in (compare U.S. models) and working out of the box. Attached here is a demo of the new LG Optimus 7 phone streaming photo, music, and video content from the handset to a DLNA compatible device — in this case a Window 7 PC running the DLNA compatible Windows Media Player 12 application set to: Allow remote control of my player. Overall you’ll see the process is drop dead simple (well done, Windows Phone Team), but it’s unclear in the video how one selects a specific player from a group of available devices. I’m guessing it’s just as easy.

unfortunately this is only available on the LG handset and is none of the other launch models

    • You’re absolutely right, Ian. Thanks. I made the correction above and pointed people to Microsoft’s product comparison page. I’m surprised all models with Wi-Fi don’t offer this functionality. Perhaps Play To will be something people can enable later on phones with the hardware specs to support it?
