New AVA Media NVT Windows Media Center Add-in Transcodes WHS Stored DVD Rips to Popular Formats Automatically

The folks at Tranquil PC have just introduced a new, FREE Windows Media Center Add-in called AVA Media NVT which does something brilliant. You know how typical Home Servers are usually underpowered for doing any kind of DVD rip transcoding? Well, Tranquil PC figures that if your HTPC has the processing power to handle HD movie playback, it has the power to transcode files stored on your Windows Home Server for you. The Add-in leverages the open-souce Handbrake platform for the backend and provides a UI with Handbrake’s built-in presets that makes setting up transcoding duties and monitoring a specific DVD folder a snap. For additional details, check the Add-in’s FAQ. FYI, you may want to tie-in Tranquil PC’s other Add-in, AVA Media RipNet, into the mix. [via]
