Microsoft Courier Tablet Shelved?

Gizmodo is reporting that the much anticipated dual-display, touch and pen-based Courier booklet/tablet is being shelved. What started out as an innovative concept is now, for the time being, being put on the back-burner. Frank Shaw, Microsoft VP of Communications, told Gizmodo that the Courier was an incubation project designed to help the company “foster productivity and creativity” around new form factors and user interfaces and that “it will be evaluated for use in future offerings, but [Microsoft has] no plans to build such a device at this time.” Bummer. I guess Engadget’s “trusted” source was full of hot air last month when he stated the Courier would launch Q3/Q4 of this year or next. Or maybe this is Microsoft’s secret plan to misdirect the competition?
