Boxee ‘Gets Its Search On’ with Clicker

One of the big problems with web, and web video in particular, is locating content. Google has done a great job of indexing web pages, but a fairly new startup called Clicker has set its sights on web video. Clicker bills itself as “one part directory, one part search engine, one part wiki, one part entertainment guide, and one part DVR.” The Clicker database contains more than 450,000 episodes, from over 6,000 shows, from over 1,200 networks, tens of thousands of movies, and 50,000 music videos from 20,000 artists. There’s even support for Netflix and Amazon VOD content! And now the service will be a part of Boxee’s core applications located in the App Box.

If you’re curious to see the Clicker Boxee app in action, Clicker reps will be demonstrating the service at the Boxee Beta unveiling in NYC on December 7th.

Aside: Clicker’s blog states that not everything listed in the Clicker database is available through Boxee at the moment. The blog post goes on to say: “[The Clicker Boxee app] includes over 180,000 episodes from over 3,000 TV and Web shows, as well as 5,000 movies. We’re working with Boxee to add more content and many more sources in the future.”
